P0130

Diagnostic Chart:

Schematic:

The front oxygen sensors monitor the oxygen content in the exhaust gases before they enter into the pup converters. From the oxygen detected, a signal is sent to the ECM which translates this signal into a lambda value. When lambda is greater than 1, a lean condition exists. A rich condition exists when lambda is less than 1. The ECM constantly monitors the signals during the closed loop operation and compensates for a rich or lean condition by increasing or decreasing the injector pulse width. This DTC will set when the signal from the front oxygen sensor conflicts with the reading from the rear oxygen sensor Bank 1 will default to open loop operation if this code sets.

DTC PARAMETERS
Anyone of the following conditions can set this code:
^ Front lambda is between 0.995 and 1.005 and rear O2 sensor reads greater than 650 mV (rich) or less than 300 mV (lean).
^ Front lambda is greater than 1.2 (lean), and rear O2 sensor indicates rich.
^ Front lambda is less than 0.8 (rich), and rear O2 sensor indicates lean.

DTC P0130 is a (type B) DTC.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
To locate an intermittent problem use Scan tool to monitor HO2S Bank 1 Sensor 1 with engine idling at normal operating temperature.

Wiggling wires while monitoring HO2S Bank 1 Sensor 1 lambda value may locate area where an open or short may exist.

Possible causes:
^ Corrosion in connector
^ Grounded/open circuit fault
^ Oxygen sensor
