C0236
ABS/TCS BRAKE SWITCH CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION
The engine control module (ECM)/powertrain control module (PCM) provide the electronic brake and traction control module (EBTCM) with an identification of engine RPM to help determine traction control methods and rates when a traction control event takes place.
CODE PARAMETERS
DTC C0236 will set if:
^ The engine RPM circuit is open or shorted.
^ The EBTCM does not receive an RPM input signal one second after engine has been started
^ When this trouble code set the EBTCM will disable traction control.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
^ It is very important to thoroughly inspect wiring components and connectors.
^ Inspect any circuitry that may be causing the complaint for the following conditions:
- Backed out terminals
- Improper mating
- Broken connector locks
- Corrosion in connectors/terminals
- Rubbed-through wire insulation
- A broken wire inside the insulation
- Loose components
^ Possible causes for DTC C0236 to set:
- Open in the delivered RPM circuit
- The delivered RPM circuit shorted to ground or voltage
- Communication frequency problem
- Communication duty cycle problem
- The delivered RPM circuit has a wiring problem, terminal corrosion, or poor connections
- EBTCM not receiving information from PCM/ECM
- A broken wire inside the insulation
