C0045

LEFT REAR WHEEL SPEED SENSOR MALFUNCTION (NO SIGNAL/INVALID SIGNAL)
The rear wheel speed sensors monitor speed of each wheel by placing a magnetic coupling and a toothed ring internal to the rear wheel bearings. This sensor produces a AC signal that the EBTCM uses to calculate wheel speed. The signal frequency changes with the wheel speed.

CODE PARAMETERS
DTC C0045 will set if.
^ Left rear wheel speed circuit is open, grounded, or shorted to battery.
^ Left rear wheel speed = zero, while other wheel speeds are greater than 40 km/h (25 mph) for 10 Ms.
^ This code can set anytime after the key is turned to the RUN position.
When the trouble code sets the EBTCM will disable ABS and Traction Control and turn ON the antilock telltale.
If two or more wheel speed faults occur, the RED brake telltale is also turned on and dynamic rear proportioning (DRP) is disabled for the entire ignition cycle.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
^ It is very important to thoroughly inspect wiring components and connectors.
^ Inspect any circuitry that may be causing the complaint for the following conditions:
- Backed out terminals
- Improper mating
- Broken connector locks
- Corrosion in connectors/terminals
- Rubbed through wire insulation
- Broken wire inside insulation
- Loose components.
Possible causes for DTC C0045 to set:
^ Damaged or missing teeth on the wheel speed sensor ring.
^ Large grooves or gouges, or build-up of foreign material in the gaps between the wheel speed sensor ring teeth.
^ A worn rear hub bearing assembly, or worn inner axle bearing which could allow the sensor to toothed ring gap type change excessively.
