Connector/Terminal Position Assurance Retainer

CONNECTOR POSITION ASSURANCE (CPA) RETAINER
The Connector Position Assurance (CPA) retainer is a small plastic insert that is inserted through the locking tabs of all of the SIR system connectors. The purpose of the CPA retainer is to ensure the connector halves are securely connected and they cannot vibrate apart. The CPA retainer must be in place to ensure good contact between the SIR mating terminals.

TERMINAL POSITION ASSURANCE (TPA) RETAINER
The Terminal Position Assurance (TPA) retainer insert is similar to the plastic "combs" used in PCM connectors. The function of the TPA retainer is to keep the terminal securely seated in the connector body. The TPA retainer should be replaced on the connector body after service.
