SUBJECT:
(MIL) SERVICE ENGINE SOON Light On with DTC P0133 - 02S SLOW RESPONSE SENSOR 1 (Install Calibration and Oxygen Sensor, If Necessary)

Due to revisions under PARTS REQUIREMENTS, this bulletin supersedes bulletin 99-T-66, which should be discarded.

MODELS AFFECTED:
1999 Saturn S-Series vehicles equipped with DOHC (LL0) engines, automatic transaxles (MP7) and federal emissions (NF2)

CONDITION:
The affected vehicles may exhibit a SERVICE ENGINE SOON telltale On and a DTC P0133 - O2S SLOW RESPONSE SENSOR 1

CAUSE:





The response times (Lean-to-Rich and/or Rich-to-Lean) of a normally operating oxygen sensor may exceed the values set within the current PCM calibration.

CORRECTION:





Refer to the Diagnostic Chart in this bulletin.

Refer to "Service Programming System (SPS)" in the Saturn Service Stall System (SSS) User Guide for reprogramming procedures.

For oxygen sensor removal and installation procedures refer to "Oxygen Sensor" in the Front Oxygen Sensor (O2S) Circuit section of the 98-99 Powertrain Service Manual.

To receive credit for this repair during the warranty coverage period, submit a claim through the Saturn Dealer System as shown.

When the oxygen sensor is replaced and the EE Prom is reprogrammed, the failed labor operation J6372 - Replace Oxygen Sensor must be claimed with labor operation J6355 - Reprogram EE Prom submitted as a related line.
