Ground Circuits Testing

Before checking the ground circuit from the faulty component all the way to the ground stud, check the circuit from the splice pack to ground by testing some of the other subsystems grounded by the same splice pack. If the other subsystems function properly, it is most likely that the path from the splice pack to ground is good (or at least one of the paths is good with redundantly grounded splice packs).

Left Body Ground Splice
Location: Left side under driver's seat.

The left body ground splice pack provides a ground path for the left side of the body harness. If one of the following systems is operating normally, the ground circuit is most likely good.
- Power door locks
- Dome lamp
- Door jamb/ajar switches
- Sunroof

Check for OPENS/SHORTS.

Repair as needed.

Dome Lamp
Check for damaged or corroded terminals or connectors. Check for terminal tightness.

Check voltage across the bulb socket.
- With the bulb removed and switch in ON position, measure voltage between socket terminals. Battery voltage should be measured.
- With the bulb removed and switch in DOOR position and a door open, measure voltage between socket terminals. Battery Voltage should be measured.

Repair/replace as needed.

Remote Keyless Entry Module
Refer to Keyless Entry. Keyless Entry

Chime Module
Refer to Audible Warning Device.

Door Jamb Ajar Switch
Check switch resistance.

Switch resistance:
- OPEN with door closed, less than one ohm with door open.

Repair/replace as needed.
