P1441

Diagnostic Chart:

Wiring Diagram:

The EVAP control system checks for conditions that cause the EVAP system to purge continuously by commanding the canister vent solenoid On and the EVAP canister purge Off (canister vent solenoid closed and purge valve to 0% duty cycle). If fuel tank vacuum level increases during the Service Bay Test, a continuous purge flow condition is indicated. A "stuck open" or leaking purge solenoid will cause the P1441 DTC to set.

DTC PARAMETERS
A continuous purge flow condition is detected when the Service Bay Test is run using the Scan tool.
^ DTCs P0105, P0107, P0108, P0112, P0113, P0117, P0118, P0125, P0452, P0453, and P0500 are not set.
^ Start-up ECT and IAT are both between 5°C(41°F) and 32°C(90°F).
^ IAT and ECT are within 10 degrees of each other at start-up.
^ Baro is greater than 80.8 kPa.
^ Fuel tank level is between 15% and 85%.
^ A continuous purge flow condition is detected during diagnostic test (greater than 3 inches M20) vacuum.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Although the DTC is considered a Type A code, it acts like a Type B diagnostic under certain conditions. Whenever this diagnostic reports the system passed, or if the battery is disconnected, the diagnostic must fail twice before setting a DTC P1441. The initial fail is not reported or displayed on the Scan tool. A passing system will always report immediately. Inspect for foreign material or debris holding the valve open.
