The Gearbox Input Shaft Speed Sensor, AF 40 (532), E39
The gearbox input shaft speed sensor, AF 40 (532), E39Location
The sensor is mounted in the valve housing in the front of the gearbox.
Main task
To measure the rotational speed of the gearbox input shaft. This value is used by the TCM (502b) to calculate the actual gear change timing and to regulate the Lock-up.
Type
Magnetoresistance sensor with Hall effect. Uses a tooth wheel with 36 teeth for measurement.
1. The output shaft wheel with output speed sensor (533).
2. C2 clutch drum with input speed sensor (532).
Connection
The speed sensor is grounded to TCM (502b), pin 13, and powered from its pin 12.
