Steering swivel member, 4WDTo remove
1. Remove Rear wheel hub, 4WD.
2. Remove Spring, 4WD.
3. Remove the nut (A) from the upper link arm. Detach the ball joint from the steering swivel member using 87 91 287 Puller, 150 mm.
4. Remove the anti-roll bar link (A) from the steering swivel member. Suspend the anti-roll bar with 83 95 212 Strap.
5. Remove the toe-in link nut (B) from the steering swivel member.
Important
The bolt must be screwed out and in respectively or there is risk that the hole will be "reamed" by the threads.
6. Remove the bolt (C) from the lower link arm.
7. Remove the shock absorber (D) from the steering swivel member.
8. Remove the steering swivel member (E) from the longitudinal link.
9. Remove the steering swivel member.
To fit
1. When fitting a new steering swivel member, transfer or fit a new bush in the steering swivel member. Remove the bush with KM906-61-62 and fit with KM906-63-64, which are part of 89 96 761 Set of press sleeves, rear axle.
2. Fit the steering swivel member on the toe-in link and upper link arm. Fit new nuts.
3. Insert the bolt of the lower suspension arm with a new nut.
Important
The bolt must be screwed out and in respectively or there is risk that the hole will be "reamed" by the threads.
4. Fit the steering swivel member (E) to the longitudinal link.
Tightening torque 150 Nm (110 ft. lbs.)
5. Fit the lower mounting (D) of the shock absorber.
Tightening torque 148 Nm + 90 degrees (109 ft. lbs. + 90 degrees)
6. Torque tighten the toe-in link nut (B) using 89 96 613 Sleeve, MacPherson strut. Hold with a 10 mm sleeve.
Tightening torque 75 Nm + 60 degrees (55 ft. lbs. + 60 degrees)
7. Fit the anti-roll bar link (A) to the steering swivel member.
Tightening torque 53 Nm (39 ft. lbs.)
8. Tighten the nut (A) securing the steering swivel member to the upper suspension arm using 89 96 613 Sleeve, MacPherson strut. Hold with a 10 mm sleeve.
Tightening torque: 60 Nm + 60 degrees
9. Fit Rear wheel hub, 4WD.
10. Raise the steering swivel member to normal position 374 mm (A) between the drive shaft center and the wing edge.
11. Tighten the bolt (A) of the suspension arm mounting to the steering swivel member.
Tightening torque: 75 Nm + 90 degrees (55 ft. lbs. + 90 degrees)
12. Fit Spring, 4WD.
