Cover, differential clutch, replacement

Warning: The hydraulic pressure in the differential clutch is very high. Wait or at least 10 minutes before removing any parts from the differential clutch.

Important: It is very important to observe maximum cleanliness when working on the differential clutch. Dirt particles can seriously damage the function and service life of the differential clutch.

To remove
1. Raise the car.
2. Remove the exhaust system.
3. Remove the propeller shaft.
4. Unhook the hooks (A) from the control module and remove the protective cover (B) from the hydraulic pump.





5. Undo the cable clips (A).





6. Remove the electrical connection (A).





7. Use a column jack as support for the differential clutch. Secure with strap (A).





8. Remove the bolts (B) for the differential clutch and limited slip differential.
9. Lower the differential clutch and limited slip differential as far as the cover can be removed, take care that the drive shaft universal joints are not damaged.
10. Position a receptacle under the differential clutch.
11. Detach the air exhaust hose (A) from the cover.
12. Remove the cover (A).





To fit
1. Fit the cover (B) using a new gasket. Tighten the bolts crosswise.

Tightening torque: 5.7 Nm (4.2 ft. lbs.)





2. Attach the air exhaust hose (A) to the cover.
3. Raise the differential clutch and limited slip differential.
4. Fit bolts (B) for the differential clutch and limited slip differential.

Tightening torque: 90 Nm (66.4 ft. lbs.) + 90° +15°





5. Remove the strap (A).
6. Fit electrical connection (A).





7. Fit cable clip (A).





8. Fit the protective cover (A) to the hydraulic pump and hook the hooks (B) into the control module.





9. Fit propeller shaft.
10. Fit the exhaust system.
11. Fill new fluid in the differential clutch.
12. Lower the car to the floor.
