Headlamp Bulb: Description and Operation



Xenon Lamp Ballast (663b)





Main task
The ballast ensures that the lamp is subjected to the correct working conditions as regards current and voltage. The ballast generates running voltage in a DC/AC converter, where 12 V DC is converted to approx. 85 V AC at a frequency of about 300 Hz.

Type
Ballast for Xenon lamp of type D1S.

Connection
The ballast (663b) is connected to the xenon lamp with integrated ignition transformer (11a).

The ballast is supplied voltage from headlamp pin 3 and is grounded in headlamp pin 1.
