Background
Corrosion on contact plates/cable terminals may arise due to water seeping into the lighting though the seal around the lens as well as via the seal to the cover.
In the case of customer complaint, the following procedure must be carried out.

The license plate light stops working.

Procedure
1. Remove the decor strip in accordance with WIS 9-3 (9440) - 8. Body - Auxiliaries - Adjustment/Replacement - Tailgate, decor strip 5D.
2. Remove the lighting screws (A).
3. Carefully prise apart the lamp housing from the decor strip.
4. Clean the decor strip.
5. Fit the foam rubber seal to the lamp housing.
6. Fit the new lamp housing by securing it first at the top edge (A) and then at the bottom edge (B). Make sure that all lock lugs engage.
7. Fit the 2 screws for the lighting.
8. Fit the decor strip in accordance with WIS 9-3 (9440) - 8. Body - Auxiliaries - Adjustment/Replacement - Tailgate, decor strip 5D.
