Ignition Lock - Can't Turn Key To Lock Position
Bulletin Number: 831-2627Date: March 2006
Market: all
The ignition key cannot be turned to the LOCK position
Cars affected
Saab 9-3 M06-, or if the CIM has been replaced in older cars
Background
If the ignition key has been turned from ON to OFF at a speed above 5 km/h then the key cannot be turned to the LOCK position and so cannot be withdrawn from the ignition switch.
The reason for this is that the CIM stops sending out + X-feed to the TCS/ESP which in turn stops sending the speed signal and the latest speed then remains stored. At this point key-turning is not permitted.
In order to prevent the wrong components being replaced the following procedure must be carried out in the case of customer complaint.
Symptom description
The ignition key cannot be turned to the LOCK position and the key cannot be withdrawn from the ignition switch.
Procedure
1. If the ignition key cannot be turned to LOCK, turn it back to the ON position. Wait for approx. 2 seconds. Then turn it back to the LOCK position.
2. Inform the customer about the function.
Warranty/Time Information
