Engine - Rough Idle/Low Idle Speed

Performance problem due to low engine speed and uneven idling

Cars affected
All Saab 9-3 M06 with engine alternative B207 within engine interval 6 512 506 - 6 526 753 within Vehicle Identification Number range 61025972 - 61122038 and 66005820 - 66100566.

Background

On some cars, the air nipple on the inlet manifold and brake vacuum hose is loose. This has a negative impact on performance, especially at low engine speed and uneven idling.

In the event of customer complaint, the following procedure must be carried out.

Symptom description

Performance problem due to low engine speed and uneven idling.

CHECK ENGINE lamp on.

The following diagnostic trouble codes may have been generated:

P0101

P0507

P0300





Parts required

Procedure

1. Remove the engine cover.

2. Remove the air nipple from the inlet manifold and from the vacuum hose.





3. Grind the surface of the air nipple with sandpaper. Clean the air nipple and the area around the air nipple hole using an alcohol-based cleaning agent.

4. Apply Loctite 648 to the air nipple.

5. Fit the air nipple. Allow the Loctite to harden for 30 minutes.

6. Attach the quick coupling of the vacuum hose.

7. Fit the engine cover.

8. Erase all diagnostic trouble codes and road test the vehicle.
