Lateral Accelerometer: Service and Repair

Yaw Rate Sensor

To Remove






1. Remove the centre console.
2. Manual gearbox: Remove the gear lever housing.
Automatic transmission: Remove the selector lever housing, see To remove.
3. Remove the gyro sensor. Use a large screwdriver to prise aside the air duct slightly to access the left-hand screw.
4. Unplug the connector from the gyro sensor.

Note: The connector has a locking device that must be released.

To Fit
1. Plug in the gyro sensor.






2. Fit the gyro sensor to the bracket.
Use a large screwdriver to prise aside the air duct slightly to access the left-hand screw.

Important: Fit the gyro sensor with the connector and arrow pointing forward in the car.

Tightening torque up to and including Vehicle Identification Number 73514907:
10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.)
Tightening torque from and including Vehicle Identification Number 73514908:
8 Nm (6 ft. lbs.)

- When processing the data for the 2003 and 2004, the torque specification shown below was given, when processing the 2005 data, the specification above (including VIN Split) was shown.
- Tightening torque 5 Nm (3,5 ft. lbs.)


3. Manual gearbox: Fit the gear lever housing.
Automatic transmission: Fit the selector lever housing.
4. Fit the centre console.
