ESP Control Module Only



ESP Control Module

Warning:
^ Absolute cleanliness must be observed when working on the brake system.
^ Only clean brake fluid must also be used.

Important
ESD-SENSITIVE COMPONENT
^ Touch a source of ground, e.g. the car body, before unplugging/plugging in component connectors. Do not touch the pins on the components.
When changing control module
^ Keep the new control module in its original packaging for as long as possible.
^ Place the exchanged control module in the return packaging without touching its pins.

To Remove
1. Remove ESP unit with control module. ESP Unit With Control Module






2. Remove the bracket on the hydraulic unit.






3. Remove the four bolts holding the control module and lift it carefully straight up by hand.

Important: Grip the control module by its edges only when removing/fitting. The control module can be damaged by pressure on the top.

To Fit

Important: Do not spray any kind of contact spray onto the internal contact pins/sleeves. Do not blow clean with compressed air.






1. Check the gasket on the new control module. Fit it carefully by holding the edges with one hand an slowly lowering it so that the valves and contacts are in the right place.

Important: Grip the control module by its edges only when removing/fitting. The control module can be damaged by pressure on the top.

Sequence:






2. Fasten the bolts and torque tighten them in the illustrated order.
Tightening torque 3 Nm ± 0.3 (2.15 ± 0.21 lbf ft)






3. Fit the bracket on the hydraulic unit.
4. Fit ESP unit with control module.
5. Perform Spare parts programming, ESP.
