Service Message

Service Message

General
SID 1 and 2 are equipped with a service indicator which shows the message "TIME FOR SERVICE" on the SID when it is time to service the car. The time for this is controlled by the odometer which shows how far the car has travelled since the last service, and the day counter which calculates the number of days since the last service.

The service interval is programmable and is programmed during production according to the various markets. If necessary, the interval can be changed using the diagnostic tool.

Activation of the service message
The service message is shown when the day counter reaches 365 days or when 1000 km or 600 miles are left until the next service, whichever is the sooner. The message is shown when the ignition is turned on and reads "CHECKING".

Manual reset
The service message is reset by pressing and holding the CLEAR button for at least 8 seconds. The SID gives two acoustic signals in quick succession. On the second signal "SERVICE" starts to flash. Resetting means that the service interval is recalculated and the day counter zeroed.

Automatic reset
The service message is reset automatically when it has been activated (shown) on the display 20 times.

Reset with diagnostic tool
The service message can be reset using the diagnostic tool even if it has not been activated. This is useful if a service is carried out before a long journey for example. The time to next service is then calculated starting from the current odometer reading. On resetting, the day counter is also zeroed at the same time.
