Night Panel

Night Panel

SID has a NIGHT PANEL function which extinguishes the instrument and display lighting when it is activated.

When the NIGHT PANEL button on SID is pressed, SID sends the bus information "NIGHT PANEL ON".

The main instrument unit then switches off the instrument and display lighting.

The tachometer, fuel gauge and temperature gauge needles return to their zero positions when the lighting has been turned off.

Only the speedometer (up to 140 km/h (90 mph)), indicator lamps and warning lamps retain their display.

The following gauges/displays return to their normal state under the following circumstances:
^ The speedometer's high-speed part of the scale if the speed of the car exceeds 134 km/h (87 mph).
^ The tachometer if the engine speed exceeds 5400 rpm (manual petrol-engined models), 5900 rpm (automatics), 4000 rpm diesel-engined cars).
^ The fuel gauge and temperature gauge if the fuel level in the tank is below 15 litres.
^ The fuel gauge and temperature gauge if the engine temperature exceeds 120 Degree C (248 Degree F) (4-cyl), 114 Degree C (237 Degree F) (V6 petrol).
^ The selector lever display lights up if the selector lever is NOT in position D.

If the NIGHT PANEL button is pressed again, SID sends the bus information "NIGHT PANEL OFF", whereupon the main instrument unit first resets all gauges to normal display and then switches on the illumination.

Diagnostics
The function has its own diagnostics in the sending system.
