Luggage / Roof Rack Frame: Service and Repair



Roof Bar 5D

To remove







The following description covers the left-hand side.

1. Remove the sun visor.
2. Remove the A pillar trim, secured with clips.
3. Remove the roof console and detach the courtesy handles at front and rear.
4. Detach the B pillar trim, secured with clips. Lift the pillar trim out of the air duct and place it to one side.







5. Remove the rear roof covering.







6. Detach the D pillar trim.
7. Remove the cover between the C and D pillars.
8. Detach the C pillar trim at the top.
9. Remove the cargo net lashing eyes.
10. Remove the clip securing the rear edge of the headliner by turning it 90 degrees and pulling it downward.
11. Carefully pull the roof away from the door weather seal mouldings.
12. Bend down the headlining so that the roof bar nuts become accessible.
13. Remove the 4 nuts securing the roof bar.







IMPORTANT: Take care to prevent the nuts from dropping down into some hole in the body.

14. Carefully lift the roof bar away.

To fit







1. Fit the metal cover plate to the roof, if it was removed.
2. Check the seals round the screws and on the roof bar's retaining plates to make sure they are not damaged.
3. Position the roof bar and screw it in place.

Tightening torque: 20 Nm (14.7 lbf ft)

4. Push up the headlining and fit it around the door weather seal mouldings.
5. Fit the clip securing the rear edge of the roof and the cargo net lashing eyes.







6. Fit the D pillar trim.
7. Press the rear roof covering in place.
8. Press the C pillar trim into place.
9. Fit the roof covering in place between the C and D pillars.
10. Fit the b pillar trim.







11. Fit the courtesy handles and roof console.







12. Fit the A pillar trim.
13. Fit the sun visor.
