Remote Control
Remote Control
All Saab 9-5 cars are equipped with remote controls. Each car is delivered with 2 car keys with integrated remote control in the key header. This function is the same as in earlier variants, i.e. it is used to manoeuvre the central locking system, as a back-up for immobilization and for arming/deactivating the anti-theft alarm. The car key can also be used for earlier Saab 9-5 cars.
The remote control is available in three variants with different sending frequencies and ranges. See Technical data.
Function
Point the remote control towards the car. When a button is pressed, the remote control sends a control signal which is received by the remote control receiver unit. The range is approx. 5-15 metres.
The signal from the remote control is a fixed identification code (each remote control has its own code) and a rolling code, which is changed each time a button is pressed.
NOTE: Remote manoeuvring also works inside the car. Therefore, grip the key in such a way that you avoid unintentionally pressing the button when inserting, turning or removing the key in the ignition switch. Otherwise, you could lock the doors and/or unlock the boot lid.
Control buttons on the remote control
LOCK Used to lock the car with the central locking and arm the antitheft alarm.
UNLOCK Used to unlock the car with the central locking and disarm the anti-theft alarm.
TAILGATE Used to unlock the boot lid/tailgate only while also disarming it.
Transport
The remote control does not function on transport.
