The type designation for manual gearboxes is divided into 3 groups of characters as in the following example:

FM55 B05 A12345

The three character groups are separated by spaces and contain different information about the gearbox as specified below.

First Group FM55:
F Front-wheel drive
M Manual gearbox
5 5 forward gears
5 Final drive gear ratio: 5=2.7 and 7=2.5

Second Group B05:
B Manual gearbox, adapted to various engine alternatives:
B=engines in 9-5, 1=engines in 9-3
06 Development variant (internal use only)

Third Group: A 12345
A Production line (A-V)
12345 Serial number
