Starter Motor: Service and Repair



Starter Motor, B207

To Remove






1. Remove the battery cover.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Raise the car.






4. Disconnect the starter motor connecting cables.
5. Remove the starter motor retaining bolts.
6. Lower the starter motor and lift it out.

To Fit

1. Lift the starter motor into place.






2. Fit the starter motor retaining bolts.
Tightening torque 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.)
3. Clean, apply Vaseline and connect the starter motor connecting cables.
4. Lower the car to the floor.






5. Connect the negative cable of the battery.
6. Fit the battery cover.
7. Reset the car; see Procedure after battery disconnection.
