Lighting - Water Leakage Into Tail Lamps

Water Leakage in Boot Lid Light Cluster

Cars Affected:
Saab 9-3 (9440) CV M04 - M05 up to and including Vehicle Identification Number 56001652

Background

In certain cars the seal for the boot lid light cluster is fitted in the wrong position.

This means that water can penetrate into the lamp housing.

In the case of customer complaint, the following procedure must be carried out.

Symptom description

Water leakage in boot lid light cluster.

Parts Required

16 - 32 025 043 (CA: 10953479) Rubber moulding adhesive (sufficient for 25 light clusters)

Procedure

1. Remove the light cluster, see WIS 3. Electrical System - Lighting and signalling systems - Exterior lighting - Adjustment/Replacement - Rear lamp, boot lid, CV.

2. Remove the seal from the lamp housing.





3. Drain the water from the lamp housing and wipe clean the edge of the lamp housing.

4. Apply the adhesive to the edge of the lamp housing and bond the seal to the rear of the lamp housing. Check that the seal is correctly fitted.





5. Fit the light cluster, see WIS 3. Electrical System - Lighting and signalling systems - Exterior lighting - Adjustment/Replacement - Rear lamp, boot lid, CV.
