Ignition Coil Trig Cylinder 2 Circuit, Signal Missing at CDM







Fault symptom
- Malfunction Indicator Lamp
- Performance loss.
- Misfiring

On-board diagnosis

Type of diagnosis:
- Continuous

Enable criteria:
- Engine running.
- No fuel shut-off.
- No fault on main relay (P0685, P0686 and P0687).

Fault criteria:
- When there is no trigger signal, ignition coil cyl 2 to CDM (pin 10) for 16 combustions.

Dependent:
P1315

System reaction to a fault:
- Torque limited to max. 170 Nm.

OK report:
- When trigger signal, ignition coil is detected 4 times in a row per cylinder (total 16 combustions).

Fault handling:
Type III

Checking the wiring harness
- Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.

Diagnostic help

Diagnosis regards:
- Electrical fault in connecting lead or in the CDM.
- P1352 deletes P0302 if it was set previously.
