Ignition Coil Trig Random Cylinder, Signal Missing at CDM
Fault symptom
- Malfunction Indicator Lamp
- Performance loss.
- Misfiring
On-board diagnosis
Type of diagnosis:
- Continuous
Enable criteria:
- Engine running.
- No fuel shut-off.
- No fault on main relay (P0685, P0686 and P0687).
Fault criteria:
- When there is no trigger signal, ignition coil, several cylinders to CDM for 16 combustions.
Dependent:
P1315
System reaction to a fault:
- Torque limited to max. 170 Nm.
OK report:
- When trigger signal, ignition coil is detected 4 times in a row per cylinder (total 16 combustions).
Fault handling:
Type III
(See section Fault handling III, "Other emission-related components and functions" for more information.)
Checking the wiring harness
- Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.
