Main Relay Circuit, Performance Problem







Fault symptom
- Check Engine
- Engine stops.
- Engine does not start.

On-board diagnosis

Type of diagnosis:
- Continuous

Enable criteria:
- Crankshaft rotating.
- Engine running.
- Output active.

Fault criteria:
When diagnostics detects fault in the following functions simultaneously:
- Boost pressure valve
- Canister Purge Valve
- Combustion signals
- Injectors

For a duration of 0.5 s.

Dependent:
- None

System reaction to a fault:
- None

OK report:
- Fault criteria NOT fulfilled during 60 s with engine running.

Fault handling:
Type III

Checking the wiring harness
- Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.

Diagnostic help

- Electrical fault in connecting leads or component.
