Power Steering Pressure Switch Performance Problem







Fault symptom
- No load compensation for power steering.
- Higher idling speed.

On-board diagnosis

Type of diagnosis:
- Continuous

Enable criteria:
- Battery voltage must be between 11 - 16 V.
- Engine running.

Fault criteria:
- Status change for the power steering pressure switch has occurred for a duration of 600 s when vehicle speed has been higher than 50 km/h (31 mph).

Dependent:
P0501

System reaction to a fault:
- Control module continues working with the higher idling function.

OK report:
- Status change for the power steering pressure switch has occurred.

Fault handling:
- Type III without Check Engine.

Checking the wiring harness
- Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.
