EVAP Purge Valve Circuit. Open / Short to Ground







Fault symptom
- Check Engine

On-board diagnosis

Type of diagnosis:
- Continuous

Enable criteria:
- Battery voltage must be between 11 - 16 V.
- Tank purge active.

- NONE of the following DTCs must be detected:
- P0685, P0686, P0687

Fault criteria:
- Output voltage below 2 V during the portion of the PWM period when the control module is not grounding. The condition exists for more than 2 s.

Dependent:
- None

System reaction to a fault:
- No fuel shut-off.
- Fuel adaption is blocked and reset.
- EVAP canister purge valve deactivated.

OK report:
- Diagnostics carried out without fault reported.

Fault handling:
Type III

Checking the wiring harness
- Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.

Diagnostic help

Diagnosis regards:
- Electrical fault in connecting leads or component.
