Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit. Incorrect Signal.







Fault symptom
- Check Engine
- Jerky movements.
- Message in SID regarding TCM and TCS/ESP.

On-board diagnosis

Type of diagnosis:
- Continuous

Enable criteria:

Test 1
- Start engine revving.
- Crankshaft signal detected.

Test 2
- Fault criterion for test 1 is not fulfilled.
- Engine running at least 3 seconds.
- Vehicle speed over 30 km/h
- Brake pedal NOT depressed.

Fault criteria:

Test 1
- No crankshaft signal more than 8 times in 10 ms for a 3 s period.

Test 2
- Crankshaft signal missing more than 3 times in 10 ms during the entire driving cycle.

Dependent:
- None

System reaction to a fault:
- None

OK report:
- Fault criteria for tests 1 and 2 are not fulfilled for 5 s.

Fault handling:
Type III

Diagnosis regards:
- Electrical fault in connecting leads or component.
