Knock Detection Circuit, No Activity
Fault symptom
- Check Engine
- Poor engine torque.
On-board diagnosis
Type of diagnosis:
- Continuous
Enable criteria:
- Engine running.
- Coolant temperature exceeds 60 degree C.
- No fuel shut-off.
- No fault on main relay (P0685, P0686 and P0687).
Fault criteria:
- No pulses on the knock lead from CDM during 16 combustions.
Dependent:
- No fault in the Combustion Detection Module, P1315.
System reaction to a fault:
- Torque limited to max. 170 Nm.
OK report:
- Pulse on the knock lead from CDM during 16 combustions.
Fault handling:
Type III

Checking the wiring harness
- Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.
Diagnostic help

- Electrical fault in the connecting leads or in the CDM.
