Charge Air Control Valve Circuit, Performance Problem

Fault symptom
- Check Engine
- Limp home

On-board diagnosis

Type of diagnosis:
- Continuous

Enable criteria:
- General conditions for this DTC
- Engine temperature above -7 degree C.
- Lowest atmospheric pressure 72 kPa.

- NONE of the following DTCs must be detected:
- P0245, P0246

Test 1
- Engine running.

Test 2
- Engine temperature over 71 degree C.
- Engine speed more than 1900 rpm.
- Charge air pressure more than current atmospheric pressure + 39 kPa.
- Throttle position 10% - 50%.

Fault criteria:

Test 1
- When the air mass is 250 mg/C higher than the requested value.

Test 2
- When the actual boost pressure is 20 to 25 kPa higher than requested.

Dependent:
P0101, P0102, P0103
P0106, P0107, P0108
P0236, P0237, P0238
P2227, P2228, P2229

System reaction to a fault:
- Torque limited to max. 170 Nm.

OK report:
- Test 1 and Test 2 completed once and fault criteria not fulfilled.

Fault handling:
Type III
(See section Fault handling III, "Other emission-related components and functions" for more information.)

Checking the wiring harness
- Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.

Diagnostic help

Diagnosis regards:
- Turbo system fault causing high boost pressure.
- A check to ensure that the boost pressure is not excessive is made when the engine load is moderate and constant.

Functions in the diagnostic tool related to the fault:

Test value:
- Charge Air Absolute Pressure
- Manifold Absolute Pressure
- Atmosphere Absolute Pressure
- Charge Air Control Valve

Activation:
- Charge Air Control Valve
