P0115
P0115 00
Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Circuit. Performance Problem.
Fault symptom
- CHECK ENGINE
- Incorrect temperature gauge reading.
- Radiator fan runs continuously.
On-board diagnosis
Type of diagnosis:
- Once per driving cycle.
Enable criteria:
- Engine running.
- Engine temperature under 71 degree C.
- Battery voltage must be between 11 - 16 V.
- NONE of the following DTCs must be detected:
- P0117, P0118
Fault criteria:
- When the temperature increase (measured from starting temperature) is below 2 degree C at various load ranges (150 mg/C, 270 mg/C).
Dependent:
- None
System reaction to a fault:
- The system continues to function with a calculated engine temperature.
OK report:
- Fault criteria NOT fulfilled.
Fault handling:
Type III
(See section Fault handling III, "Other emission-related components and functions" for more information.)
Checking the wiring harness
- Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.
Diagnostic help
Diagnosis regards:
- Electrical fault in the component (displays constant temperature regardless of actual temperature).
