Intake Air Temperature Sensor Circuit. Short to B+ / Open Circuit







Fault symptom
- CHECK ENGINE.
- Limp home

On-board diagnosis

Type of diagnosis:
- Continuous

Enable criteria:
- Battery voltage must be between 11 - 16 V.
- Ignition ON.

Fault criteria:
- When voltage on input exceeds 4.85 V for more than 1.0 s.

Dependent:
- None

System reaction to a fault:
- Torque limited to max. 170 Nm.
- Correction of intake air temperature for ignition timing blocked.
- Substitute value for intake air temperature is current coolant temperature up to +40 degree C.
- If coolant temperature exceeds +40 degree C, the substitute value is +40 degree C.

OK report:
- Fault criteria NOT fulfilled for 2 s with engine running.

Fault handling:
Type III

Checking the wiring harness

- Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.
