Wheel Speed Sensors, Supply Voltage, Intermittent Short to Ground

Fault symptom
- ABS/TCS/ESP warning lamp on.
- Messages shown in SID.
- Steering column lock not working.

On-board diagnosis

Type of diagnosis:
- Continuous

Enable criteria:
- Ignition ON.

- The following diagnostic trouble codes may not be generated:
- C0035
- C0040
- C0045
- C0050

Fault criteria:
- The control module internal power supply circuit to the sensors detects a short-circuit to ground.

System reaction to a fault:
- No ABS function
- No TCS/ESP function

Checking the wiring harness
- Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.

Diagnostic help

Diagnosis regards:
- Electrical fault in connecting leads or faulty sensor.

The DTC can be generated due to:
- The power supply to one of the sensors is intermittently short-circuited to ground.
- One of the sensors if faulty.
- Internal control module fault
- The DTC can be generated if standard sensor diagnosis does not detect the fault.
