Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit, Erratic Signal







Fault symptom
- ABS warning lamp on
- Messages shown in SID.
- Steering column lock not working.

On-board diagnosis

Type of diagnosis:
- Continuous

Enable criteria:
- Ignition ON.
- Vehicle speed over 6 km/h

Fault criteria:
- The sensor sends unrealistic vehicle speed signals to the control module for at least 150 ms.

System reaction to a fault:
- No ABS function
- No TCS/ESP function

Checking the wiring harness
- Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.

Diagnostic help

Diagnosis regards:
- To find an unrealistic increase in the vehicle speed signal from the sensor.
