Passenger Side C-pillar Sensor, Faulty Communication

Fault symptom
- Airbag warning lamp is lit

On-board diagnosis

Type of diagnosis:
- Continuous

Enable criteria:
- Ignition ON.

Fault criteria:
- Sensor uses more than 90 mA for more than 20 ms.

System reaction to a fault:
- The airbag system should be considered non-operational. There may, however, be some functionality.
- The control module ignores the activation command from the sensor as long as a fault is active.

Checking the wiring harness
- Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.
