Trigger Circuit CIM-SCL, Open/Short to B+







Fault symptom
- Engine does not start.
- Steering column lock not working.

On-board diagnosis

Type of diagnosis:
- Continuous

Enable criteria:
- Diagnostics run when key is inserted and removed.

Fault criteria:
- Trigger lead of steering column lock unit shorted to B+/open-circuit.

System reaction to a fault:
- Steering column lock deactivated.
- The control module does not allow starter motor cranking.

Checking the wiring harness
- Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.

Diagnosis regards:
- Electrical fault in connecting leads or component.
