Fault symptom
- Error message is shown on the display.
- Steering column lock not working.

On-board diagnosis

Type of diagnosis:
- Continuous

Enable criteria:
- Ignition ON.

Fault criteria:
- Open-circuit on power supply from ISM.
- Signal from the key does not match key position.

System reaction to a fault:
- Engine does not start.
- Steering column lock deactivated.

Checking the wiring harness
- Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.

Diagnostic help

- Electrical fault in connecting leads or component.
