Driver's Airbag Module



Driver's Airbag Module

Removal

IMPORTANT: Refer to "CAUTION" in Service Precautions before handling the airbag module.

Position the front wheels straight ahead. (After moving the vehicle more than 5 m (16 ft) with front wheels positioned straight ahead, make sure that the vehicle moves straight ahead).

Turn the ignition switch to OFF.

Disconnect the ground cable from battery, and wait for at least 20 seconds before starting work.

Using the TORX(R) BIT T30, remove the two TORX(R) bolts on side of steering wheel.







Disconnect the horn harness.
Disconnect the airbag connector on the back of airbag module, and then remove the airbag module.







Refer to "CAUTION" in Service Precautions for handling of a removed airbag module.

Installation
Install in the reverse order of removal.

IMPORTANT
- Refer to "CAUTION" in Service Precautions before handing the airbag module..
- Do not allow harness and connectors to interfere or get tangled up with other parts.

Tightening torque:
T1: 5.9 Nm (0.59 kgf-m, 4.4 ft-lb)
T2: 7.4 Nm (0.75 kgf-m, 5.4 ft-lb)
T3: 10 Nm (1.0 kgf-m, 7.2 ft-lb)
T4: 20 Nm (2.0 kgf-m, 14.5 ft-lb)
T5: 25 Nm (2.5 kgf-m, 18.1 ft-lb)
