Basic Diagnostic Procedure

PROCEDURE

Important: Remove foreign matters (dust, water, oil, etc.) from the ABSCM&H/U connector during removal and installation.

Note:
^ To check harness for broken wires or short circuits, shake trouble spot or connector.
^ Refer to "Check List for Interview".

CHECK PRE-INSPECTION.
Ask the customer when and how the trouble occurred using interview checklist.
Before performing diagnostics, check the component which might affect ABS problems.
Is the component that might influence the ABS problem normal?

YES
Go to CHECK INDICATION OF DTC ON SCREEN

NO
Repair or replace each unit.

CHECK INDICATION OF DTC ON SCREEN.
Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Interface to data link connector.
Turn the ignition switch to ON and Vehicle Diagnostic Interface to ON.

Note: If the communication function of the Vehicle Diagnostic Interface cannot be executed normally, check the communication circuit.

Read the DTC.
Record all DTCs and Freeze Frame Data.
Is DTC displayed?

YES
Go to PERFORM THE DIAGNOSIS

NO
Go to PERFORM THE GENERAL DIAGNOSTICS

PERFORM THE GENERAL DIAGNOSTICS.
Inspect using "General Diagnostic Table".
Perform clear memory mode.
Perform the inspection mode.
Read the DTC.
Check the DTC does not displayed.
Does the ABS warning light go off after turning the ignition switch to ON?

YES
Finish the diagnosis.

NO
Check in accordance with "Diagnostic Procedure for ABS".

PERFORM THE DIAGNOSIS.
Refer to the "List of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)".
Fix the wrong part.
Perform clear memory mode.
Perform the inspection mode.
Read the DTC.
Is DTC displayed?

YES
Repeat step 1 to 4 until DTC is not shown.

NO
Finish the diagnosis.
