Ball Joint, Steering Swivel Member

To Remove





1. Raise the car.
If a jack is used, safety stands should be placed under the car.
2. Remove the wheel.
3. Remove the ball joint from the steering swivel member.
4. Remove the ball joint from the suspension arm.

To Fit





1. Clean the ball joint's seat on the suspension arm.
2. Fit the ball joint to the suspension arm.
Tightening torque 60 Nm + 30° (44 ft. lbs. + 30°)
3. Fit the ball joint and bolt to the steering swivel member.

WARNING: Make sure that the journal on the ball joint sticks up above the steering swivel member mounting.

Tightening torque 49 Nm (36 ft. lbs.).
4. Fit the wheel.
Tightening torques
aluminium wheel 110 Nm (81 ft. lbs.)
steel wheel 50 Nm + 2 x 90°, max. 110 Nm (37 ft. lbs. + 2 x 90°, max. 81 ft. lbs.)
5. Lower the car to the floor.
6. Check the toe-in and adjust if required. Use Toe-in gauge 88 19 013.
