No Communication With PPS

Fault symptoms
- The Airbag warning lamp comes on

On-Board Diagnostics

Input conditions:
- Ignition ON

Fault criteria:
- Incorrect information from the PPS
- Fault in one or more of the PPS components.

System reactions to a fault:
- The airbag system is considered as being out of order. However, a certain functionality may exist.

Check the wiring
Faults in the control module's female connector could be the cause of the diagnostic trouble code. Check the connector for oxidation, dislodged pins and pin clamping force.

Jiggle the wiring harness at several points and in different directions to detect intermittent breaks and short circuits in the wiring harness. Monitor the multimeter, the diagnostic tool or test lamp during the check. In addition, check contacts, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, dislodged pins and pin clamping force.
