Fault symptoms

CHECK GEARBOX warning lamp on.

TCM in limp-home mode

Conditions
^ Transmission in 3rd gear
^ The TCM not in the Limp-home mode
^ The selector lever is in position 3, 4 or D
^ Fluid temperature over 20°C
^ Engine speed over 400 rpm.
^ Brake pedal not depressed.

Fault criteria
The gear ratio diverges by more than 20% from the expected value when the vehicle is driven in 3rd gear.
