Tire Pressure Sensor: Description and Operation
Tyre Pressure Sensor (754)
Position
Pressure sensor, tyre pressure, front, left (754FL)
Pressure sensor, tyre pressure, front, right (754FR)
Pressure sensor, tyre pressure, rear, left (754RL)
Pressure sensor, tyre pressure, rear, right (754RR)
Main function
The sensor transmits tyre pressure information to the control module which in turn informs the driver if the air pressure in a tyre is too low.
Type
The tyre pressure sensor is an integrated sensor, transmitter, battery and valve. It comprises a plastic housing, with an electronic unit, which is joined to an aluminium housing with a valve. On the valve are a tapered seal and a crown nut, which is used to fit the valve into the corner of the wheel. The sensor weighs approximately 38 g.
Engaging
There is a 3V (500 mAh) lithium battery in the sensor which is activated by a ball switch in the electronic unit. The battery is not replaceable.
