Battery Disconnect Switch (700)







Main function
The battery disconnect switch cuts the voltage to components connected by the front engine harness such as the alternator, starter motor, front relay board and fuse box in the event of a head-on collision. The switch cuts the power to high-temperature and high-current areas.

Type
The electromagnetic battery disconnect switch with limited electronics is connected to the airbag control module and is a part of the front impact protection.

It is possible to reset the battery disconnect switch by pressing the yellow button (1). A red glow in the window (2) indicates battery disconnect switch activation status.







Connection
Battery disconnect switch B+ feed on pin 4 and grounded on pin 3. The switch is grounded in the control module.







When frontal impact conditions are met, the airbag control module is activated with B+ feed from control module pin 66 to the battery disconnect switch pin 1 and is grounded on control module pin 67 to battery disconnect switch pin 2.
