Knock detection circuit, no activity







Fault symptom
Check Engine
Poor engine torque.

On-board diagnosis

Type of diagnosis:
Continuous

Enable criteria:
Engine running.
Coolant temperature exceeds 60 degree C.
Accelerator pedal depressed.

Fault criteria:
No pulses on the knock lead from CDM during 6000 combustions.

Dependent:
No fault in the Combustion Detection Module, P1315.

System reaction to a fault:
Torque limited to max. 170 Nm.

OK report:
Pulse on the knock lead from CDM during 6000 combustions.

Fault handling:
Type III

Checking the wiring harness
Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force.

Diagnostic help

Diagnosis regards:
Electrical fault in the connecting leads or in the CDM.
