Springs





The coil springs consist of cylindrical compression springs at the front and mini block helical compression springs at the rear.

The top and bottom turns of the coil springs are narrower than the other turns, providing greater deflection in a given working space.

The rear springs are provided with supports at top and bottom, the top supports being made of polyurethane and the bottom ones of rubber. The top spring support also acts as a compression stop for the spring. The spring supports are held in place by the tension of the partially compressed spring. The stop for the spring on extension is incorporated in the damper.

The rear dampers are of the double-acting, twin-tube, gas-filled type.

The gas pressure is used to maintain pressure on the damper fluid. This reduces the foaming tendencies of the fluid and also the formation of air bubbles that could result in noisy operation of the damper.






Overview
The rear suspension comprises a semi-rigid rear axle with two rear anti-roll bars 15 mm in diameter.

The rear axle comprises two spring links joined together with a torsion bar.

Thanks to front-wheel drive, a simple and light construction can be used to give a low unsprung weight.
