Expansion Valve: Service and Repair




Expansion Valve


Removing







1. Drain the refrigerant from the A/C system.
2. LHD: Raise the car.
3. Remove the bolt securing the A/C pipes PAD-connection to the expansion valve.
4. Remove both expansion valve retaining bolts.
5. Remove the expansion valve. Plug openings in the A/C pipes.


Fitting







1. Fill with compressor oil.Fit new O-rings on the A/C pipes from the evaporator and lubricate them with synthetic vaseline. Fit new O-rings on the A/C pipes from the evaporator and lubricate them with synthetic vaseline.
2. Fit the expansion valve on the A/C pipes. Tighten both expansion valve retaining bolts.
Tightening torque: 5 Nm (3.7 lbf ft)
3. Fit new O-rings on the A/C pipes from the compressor and lubricate them using synthetic vaseline.
4. Fit the A/C pipes in the expansion valve. Tighten the bolt securing the PAD-connection to the expansion valve.
Tightening torque: 9 Nm (6.6 lbf ft)
5. Vacuum pump the A/C system and fill with refrigerant.
