Remote Control
All the Saab 9-3 cars are delivered with a remote control. On delivery, there are 2 keys with integrated remote control for each car. it is used to operate the central locking system, as a backup for the immobilizer and to arm/disarm the anti-theft alarm.
There are three versions of the remote control with different transmitting frequencies and ranges.
Function
Point the car key at the car. Pressing a button will send a coded signal to the remote control that is received by the remote control receiver. The range is approx. 8 metres.
The signal from the remote control is a fixed identification code (each remote control has its own code) and a "rolling code" which is changed each time a button is pressed.
Control buttons on the remote control
LOCK Used to lock the car with the central locking and arm the antitheft alarm.
UNLOCK Used to unlock the car with the central locking and disarm the anti-theft alarm.
TAILGATE Used to unlock the luggage compartment only and disarm the tailgate.
Transport
The remote control does not function when the car is being driven.
Security
The number of codes received per second which are sent by the remote control is limited to 10 to prevent code grabbing.
