Rear Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair


Rear Crankshaft Seal, To Change





1. Remove the gearbox.
2. Remove the drive plate.





3. Use a screwdriver to pry out the old crankshaft seal with care.

Important: The sealing surface must not be damaged.

4. Lubricate the sealing lips.
5. Fit tools 83 94 967 and 83 94 975 and then the seal. Use tools 83 94 967 and 83 94 975 to tap the seal in place. Make sure that the sealing lips are fitted correctly on the crankshaft.





6. Fit the drive plate, Coat the bolts with part No. (10) 74 96 292.
Tightening torque: 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.) + 30°
7. Fit the gearbox.
